Alpha Course : Alpha Weekend Away

Hey all!

On the 1st and 2nd of November (Saturday and Sunday), my family and I went for the Alpha Weekend Away at Bundu Tuhan which is somewhere before Kundasang. If you don't know where, just google it then. :)

I wont be blogging about the weekend away in this post. Check out my next post soon.

I have LOTS and LOTS of stories to tell. So I might be posting it in parts so you won't get bored ready one looooooooonnnnnnnggggg post. hehe...

Wedding of Kelvin & Annabella. Congrats!

on the 25th of october, my aunt, annabella hiu, got married to the man she loves the most, kelvin chan.

venue: good samaritan church, kota kinabalu.
time: 9 a.m.

it was a typical christian wedding ceremony. :)
all of us, the family, relatives and friends were there to witness.

time: 7 p.m.

i was the dj for the music (dancing session) and putera's sound technician, victor yong, was the karaoke dj, obviously for the karaoke session. lol...

wedding, wedding, and more weddings

Wow! Looks like a "bunch" of people I know got married last month and are getting this month and if I'm not mistaken, there's another one in December. =.="
wahhh...siok oh mau kahwin! LOL~

Let's see... I attended a wedding reception last weekend at Atlantis Seafood Restaurant, Penampang.

Just now, I mean yesterday (1st of October) at the bride's private residence, Kinarut.

And, this Saturday will be my cousin's at Putera Theater, Bukit Padang. (I won't be attending)

Next Saturday, my aunt's, also at Putera Theater, if I'm not mistaken. (I will be attending the wedding ceremony at church but will not be attending the reception at night because...pls read on)

Next Saturday night, i'll be having a dj gig at my friend (Christianus aka Dj Noozey)'s cousin's wedding reception at her private residence in Penampang.

On the 25th, will be my aunt's wedding at the Good Samaritan Church, Kepayan and will be having a reception on that night at the groom's private residence, Tuaran. The next day (26th), another reception by the same bride and groom, also at Putera. And I'll be dj-ing for that night too.

Phew~ I guess that's all the wedding I can think of now. I want NO MORE! Hahaha.. It's kinda tiring just to attend weddings.. Seriously... xD

The Alpha Course

Came home from the church's parish hall (Sacred Heart Parish Hall) just now. Attended the Alpha Course.
I'm kinda lazy to explain what the Alpha Course is all about, so click HERE to find out more about it. :)

**NOTE: Please do not believe the "bad things" mentioned about this course as these "bad things" only exist because selfish people want to take advantages of other things.people. (which is just so freakin' lame...)

Anyway, back to the topic. This course has reached its 12th round here in Kota Kinabalu. There are all together about 12 sessions in a round. After these 12 sessions, it resets. Hence, a new round.

Today is my first day to attend this course (which is the 1st session). Last Monday was an introductory session.

The course began with a dinner at 7PM followed by a short singing session with the choir and at 8PM, we (those present) were welcomed with a short speech by a guy which I dunno his name... Hehe.. After that, we watched the Alpha Course video with a talk by Revd Nicky Gumbel.

The talk is titled: "Who Is Jesus?"

The video was about Jesus (obviously..LOL..), and what he did to produce evidence that he really existed. I'm not gonna explain so much though, it'll be too long..

The video ended at 9PM. Then, all of us were split to small groups for discussion. This is where the real fun begins. :D

Met new friends. Laughed. Understand the talk. Gave opinions.

Dunno whether you believe this, but our group leader is Atama (local Sabahan rapper and a DJ), whose real name is Andrew for those who didn't know. He's a funny guy with high charisma. He really lead us well.

We played an intro game. It's a game of knowing and remembering our friends' names.
Bla bla bla and it goes on.....

During the time of discussion about the talk that we watched in the video earlier, all of us were surprised to find out a Buddhist was with us. I mean a pure Buddhist, non-christian. She said she felt that she was experiencing something nice that really made her happy when she was really in a tensed situation while at a research work in the jungle. She mentioned, every time when she talks to herself, complaining and trying to figure things out, she gets a sign for the answer and felt as if someone talking back to her.

And when she told a friend, or somebody (can't remember who) about what happened, that person suggested her to attend this Alpha Course to try and seek her answer.

It looks like she's beginning to understand but still confuse. Can't blame her though. It's just the beginning of this course and she'll learn more in the coming sessions.

"You have the blessing", said a guy in the group named Aaron.
And all of us including the young lady agreed.

Well, that's all I can type for now. Kinda sleepy. Need to go to college tomorrow. So, I'll update again on the 2nd session of this Alpha Course that I'm attending, hopefully next Monday. Hehehe..

Youtube's Nigahiga's movie in theaters soon!

If you're a YouTube junkie that loves all the short comedy clips/movies, you should know "Nigahiga".

Nigahiga (2 funny guys named, Ryan Higa and Sean Fujiyoshi) is popular with their "How to be ..." clips, such as:

How to be Ninja, How to be Gangster, How to be Emo, just to name a few.

I just found out that they made a movie. Not a short movie but the average 1-2-hour movie! I only knew about this after reading Jasmine's (a friend of mine) blog.

basketball - friendly match

Yesterday evening, my chinese buddies and I, had a friendly basketball match with my other gang of friends (Dj Noozey and the rest...Jaff, Nick, and Eric K) at the Likas Sports Complex.

Too bad, Tan didn't make it. He's the pro player in our team. Liew is also a pro player. But without Tan, our team wasn't good enough.

Hence, we lost 8-10 to the other guys. Huhu.. It was a good game though! :D

discussion with rei

Yesterday morning, Rei and I discussed about the music that we're working on.

Lyrics and tune of the music was done but didn't have a chance to finish the whole thing cos' my laptop's battery went flat and to make things worse, there weren't any power outlets for me to connect the power adapter to charge my laptop. DARN! T.T

After that, Rei went to attend her class while I went home bringing 2 friends with me, Melvin and Christianus aka Dj Noozey.

I showed them my mini DJ MIDI Controller that I got about 2 weeks ago (ordered it on the 17th of last month from the US).

It is the Hercules DJ Console MK2 - bundled with Virtual DJ 3 (DJ Console Edition) software which costs US$249.

Total amount I paid including mailing and tax is appox. RM1,500.

We had a great and enjoyable time using this piece of user-friendly hardware!

outing with my chinese buddies

2 days ago (Monday), my group of chinese college buddies (Ray, Tan, Liew, Ezra) and I went to college in the morning to pick up our class schedule for our new semester starting this month.

Later in the afternoon, we went to Centre Point to have lunch and went to the cinema to watch "The Love Guru" at 1.35PM.

The movie was awesome! Really funny! But it's rated "18PL" for crude and sexual content throughout and language.

After the movie, we went back to college and asked Beverly (another friend who was with us in the same college until she quit to study in Singapore) to come and help us film our last part of a scene for a short comedy movie that we're working on.

Then, we hanged out at the college library and made noise because no one was around except the librarian. Lol... While 'hanging', we took a group photo.
